i wanna know if using shortcuts' icons from an .icl file instead of thousands of .ico's could make them load faster or not. any ideas?

there should be a way to speed up icons' loading. it s too slow for my old pc. :(=

any alternative methods to my question?
I guess the icl file will be faster.
hm i have another idea..

is there a way to implement some kind of buttons into the quick launch bar mechanism? instead of using windows shortcuts we use them to launch progs, is it possible to implement some code that into tlb would do this?

TLB PDK
well, i m a real newbie for that c++ mass. :)

but it would be kind to see a plugin which uses a better full speed way of launching progs. :)

god damned windows 2k still gives 10 secs to load up my 15 desktop shortcuts' images. it shouldnt be this much slow.. too much ridicilous to be real. :)
I can recommend to defragment your hard drive. In most cases this vastly improves the startup performance.
i have 350+ apps installed.. and every other day another new version comes with bugfixes which is a reason to reinstall the app.. i only have a 30 gb hdd and 1-2 gb free usually.

here we have really too many electrical shut downs and i fear having one of them while full defragmantation which takes 24 hours.. :) it would definitely damage my hdd.

and defragment is not the real solution cos when i reinstall those newer versions hdd again becomes fragmented quickly.

a new 80 gb hdd would help me if i had the money though. :)
