Sometimes (often), I click an RSS link in News Reader plugin, yet the link does not open in the browser. I know I've clicked (duh) because the link is marked as read and disappears.

News reader have one feature that can cause the behaviour you described: if you click the icon of the news NR will mark it as read but don't open the link in browser. The same behaviour is in the channels list - click the icon to mark all news as read.

So if you want to open the link in browser click on the mext of the menu item.
