Simple problem in a way but one I want to get rid of....

I'm using TLB 3.0 and Windows XP SP1, all updates.... TLB runs fine except for one problem... it takes an awful long time to load virtual folders (I have it setup so I can browse my whole system through virtual folders, so it's a lot) but after it loads them up the FIRST time, it is okay.

The problem is while it is doing so explorer.exe overloads to 200-300mb of memory usage! This can't be a good thing. Any explanation why? I don't seem to remember older versions doing this. Also, how can I download older version to compare? I know 3.0 has a lot of improvements so I'd like to keep it, but I wish my virtual folders would just load quick and complete the first time, not waiting a few minutes at some times.

The size of a program is a direct result of what it's doing. i.e. If I'm rendering a large .avi file in AfterEffects, my memory, CPU *and* swap file get fully used, Whilst explorer.exe is caching your files and folders this way, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it took up 200-300Mb.

Have you tried setting the background load setting in TLB Settings? It would speed up loading and reduce the memory explorere.exe would use.

Yep, I have background load checked on, it just takes quite a while to load my virtual folders the first time they have to open....hmmmmm. What can speed this process up, I suppose in regards to hardware itself? IE CPU power, more memory.... etc.... although I find it odd I don't remember older versions taking so long. Is there a way I can download a beta to compare?

Also please can you look in Task Manager when explorer eat memory: On run shortcuts, on show icons etc.
