Floating taskbars - JMENDER - 07-17-2007

Hello, I recently purchased TLB, so I am a newcomer to this forum. I wonder if there is any possibility to get TLB floating in any place of the desktop, not docked to any corner as standalone launchbar does. I will appreciate any help, thanks.

I have done so:
1. New True Launch Bar in TaskBar
2. New Menu.
3. In Menu -> Tear Off Menu
4. In Menu -> View | Large icons
4. In Menu -> View | Icons only
5. In Menu -> View | 4 Column(s)
6. Hide Menu Button.

Floating toolbar is possible to make. Unlock your taskbar and drag toolbar off the taskbar. You can drop it at any place off the desktop and get the floating toolbar. This is the standard Windows feature.

err, sorry, 'any new', not 'and new'

This is the bug (or the feature) of the Vista - you can't to drag the toolbars off the taskbar.

But this is possible to make the toolbar like in XP. Minimize all windows. Take the "Computer" icon and drag it to the any desktop side as close at possible. When you drop the "Computer" icon, Vista will create the toolbar. You can right-click it and turn on the True Launch Bar and close "Computer" like on the taskbar.

Other way - just use the standalone TLB.

BTW, with the Standalone TLB you can make toolbar more pretty. Look on my toolbar at the right side Wink

Sorry to resurrect this old thread....

Can TLB Standalone be made to float? E.g., not docked to a side?

Thanks.

This may seem a silly question, but how do I run TLB in standalone mode.

If you go to Start Menu>Programs>TrueLaunchBar

You should see a shortcut to the Standalone True Launch Bar

Many thanks Kwickone, would you believe I never use the start menu or folders contained within, so I would never have found this. I always use automated commands, or dock programs to organise and launch my apps etc.

I'm ashamed to admit I never even thought of looking there.

Best regards

Do you happen to be the same Kwickone who frequents the Winstep forum.

The one and the same! I am having major dock launcher issues. I simple cannot decide what the best one (or combination) should be! Right now I am using both Winstep and TLB Standalone.

I think I need professional help

Standalone can't be undocked, sorry. But if you are looking for something floating maybe the feature "Tear Off Menu" will help you? Right-click any menu and select "Tear Off Menu". This will make the menu floating. You can drag it into any place (you need to turn on the captions), it can be always on top. You can assign the hot key to show this menu etc.

Kwickone, nice to see you here.

Like you, I use both Winstep and TLB together. Until I saw this thread I was not aware TLB even had a standalone mode.

I think I have tried most Dock/Launcher/Menu programs and have found TLB and Winstep to be the best available, with constant development and superb support.
