Demo mode after upgrade - lietkro - 08-18-2007

Hello. I installed TLB 4.2 coming with PC Revue magazine. Everything OK, but after installation I checked for updates and I saw new version 4.2.1 (beta) available. I upgraded but then "Demo Mode" shows again... So I uninstalled 4.2.1, and I installed again version 4.2 from DVD, but now it is imposible to remove "Demo version" label even with 4.2. What can I do? Thank you.

Do you really have version 4.2 now? Did you install it from the DVD?

PC Revue version is distributed without free updates.

Yes, I have version 4.2 now, that is what I see in "About" box (attached). Sorry I did not know PC Revue come without updates... It is no problem for me, version 4.2 is OK if I can get it work now (it worked perfect before updating to 4.2.1).

I read in other post about "tlb.ini" file, and yes, I have one "tlb.ini" file in my "TrueLaunchBar" folder with key=<name> and <key> (I don't write it here because I don't know if it is allowed). However, in "Registration" box I see:

- This copy is licensed to: UNREGISTERED
- License type: DEMO VERSION

Also I tried to enter name and key from "tlb.ini" in the "Registration" box manually, but no success. Thanks for help.

Hello again... any solution to my problem? Thanks!

Thanks for your message, but it did not work... I already had that key in my "tlb.ini", and also I tried to write it manually, but when I type name and key in "Registration" and press OK, box closes and nothing happens.

Everything was OK first time I installed TLB, problems came after upgrade to 4.2.1 (sorry again, I should not do it). But I uninstalled 4.2.1, installed 4.2 from DVD again, and now name/key don't work. Maybe uninstallation left some 4.2.1 file in my system or registry and there is conflict... What other thing can I do? Thanks again for your help.

(If it helps, I have Windows Vista)

try to delete tlb.ini, restart and enter the key you have.

- lietkro - 08-22-2007

I delete "tlb.ini", restart computer, check again that there is no "tlb.ini" in TLB directory, enter the key I have... and nothing. Registration box closes and nothing happens (and no "tlb.ini" is created in TLB directory). I have tried to enter the key manually (number after number), with copy&paste... everything I can think.

I have checked again in the "About..." menu that I am working with TLB 4.2, and it is right. Thanks for your help. Please let me know what other thing I can do.

EDIT: Something I have observed... I have uninstalled and reinstalled TLB PC REVUE many times now. After install, first time I right-click on Windows bar and select "Toolbars", TLB is not there. I have to click a second time, and then yes, TLB is in "Toolbars" (and of course when it shows it is in "Demo Version"). It looks like TLB is not "loaded" the first time... I don't know if this is normal or has something to do with my problem...

This is normal. Windows have the cache of the toolbar names and need some time to update this cache.
