Mail monitor and Gmail woes - WooshaQ - 03-07-2008

Just two sugestions on this one:
one - will it be possible to make the mail that had been read to stay on their place and not dissapear, maybe it's just me but after opening the mail in MM the message simply vanish from the program even though it is still on the server
two - can you please add option to hide emails, gmail makes a copy of every message you wrote which is very convinient but not when you use mail reader, simple option that would make the messages written by me invisible (preventing from being seen in inbox section) to the MM would be quite useful i think

thank you

This is caused by the fact that GMail doesn't behave like a normal pop mailbox and MM doesn't behave like a normal pop client.

You first issue is caused by GMail assuming that any message that has had it's body downloaded is saved by the mail client and will be merged with the headers list, which isn't the case with MM. It can be got round by using recent:username@gmail.com as your username. That will download the last 30 days of mail, regardless of whether it's been downloaded or not. To get round the second issue you can do what I did:
  1. Add a rule called 'me'
  2. Set it to mark as 'Approved' in the drop down
  3. Tick the Mark as read checkbox
  4. Change the message color to gray
  5. Add a filter condition of From contains <!-- e --><a href="mailto:'username@gmail.com">'username@gmail.com</a><!-- e -->'.
