How to change icon for a reappearing app. in my quicklaunch? - szekelya - 05-17-2010 Hi, I'm using TLB in a corporate environment. There is a tricky application that centrally gets put in the quicklaunch folder periodically, thus appearing in my set of icons in the TLB toolbar. There's no corresponding item neither in the startup folder nor in registry's Run key, nor it is a scheduled task in task scheduler. Magic. If I delete its icon from the toolbar, it goes back soon. If I change it's icon to something matching my other icons, its icon gets reverted to its default. I have also tried to change its appearance from using an icon to a 3-state image, even that gets reset to the original icon. I need some help to solve the situation somehow. Either by removing it and not allowing to reappear in my toolbar, or it can even stay there, but in that case I'd like to be able to control what icon it uses. (Just for the record I have rather pinned that application to my startmenu and tried to ask corporate IT how to remove the icon from the quicklaunch, but of course that move would violate corporate policy, so they refused to assist.) many thanks szekelya Re: How to change icon for a reappearing app. in my quicklau - Yuri Kobets - 05-18-2010 Try to hide that icon. Also you can to use the your own folder as toolbar folder: Create the folder somewhere on HDD, open TLB Settings->Toolbars and add this folder as new toolbar. Backup your current toolbar, right-click TLB, select Switch toolbar and click the created toolbar name. Restore the toolbar from the backup. Now TLB uses own folder for shortcuts. As this is non standart quick launch bar folder, you don't see the icons other programs can write into the standard place. Re: How to change icon for a reappearing app. in my quicklau - szekelya - 05-18-2010 Hiding didn't help, and I had no time to try the other idea, which I have thought about just did not know how to backup-restore to the new folder. That will do the trick, thanks for the detailed assistance. Next morning that will be my first thing to do in the office, even before my first coffee. |
