Critical bug - 100% crash on startup. - sevbsn - 07-27-2012

I have never had any problems with TLB, but I am experiencing a lot of problems now. For about 2 months now I have been experience intermittent crashes. It got so bad I had to reinstall windows. Basically, Windows Explorer crashes on startup. You can't do anything else. If you run process explorer and run explorer again, it crashes again. Really bad!

I started to suspect Truelaunchbar when I ruled out the other very very limited programs I run on startup.

I started running TLBhost.exe instead of in explorer, and sure enough, I was right.
TLBhost crashes on startup. Rerunning it makes it ok.

I am running v6.1 and thinking of downgrading. Yuri, is there a debug version I can run?

Please, can you post here the error text from the Windows Logs. Here is the video about getting error text.

Also please can you send me the backup of your toolbar folder. You can just zip toolbar folder and send it to support@tordex.com

Looks like volumctrl is the problem?

The Volume Control plugin is craches. Open the toolbar folder, find the "Volume Control.tlbplugin" file (name can be different) and remove it from the folder. This will fix the crash.

Please can you send me "Volume Control.tlbplugin" for testing?

I can confirm the problem is volctrl.dll as the event log says

TLB host and the plugin were crashing just a few minutes ago. I removed volume control.tlbplugin and it stopped crashing.
Glad there's a temporary fix, but hope we can get to the bottom of the crash. Smile

The new version of the Volume Control is released. The crash must be fixed.
