I've started getting back into TLB a lot recently (I originally used it way back in 2003!). I'm loving all that it can do but there are a few small things that I wished it could do.

I've been wanting a plugin that can just show the Date (not the time) as plain text. I've also wanted to be able to show uptime in plain text. I know I can make custom skins with the exact font/color/size that I want but that is a pain. And there are a number of other random bits of info that I'd like visible on my taskbar. I've recently started using the Web Scraper tool pointing at html files hosted on my machine. That has worked well but it's a bit awkward since it scrapes the page with images (so if the text gets too big, it's cut off...plus the text can look a little blurry with a transparent background).

Anyway, that's just a long intro to say that what I think I'd really like is a plug that can be pointed at an exe and will just grab whatever output it prints and show it (with customizable font/color/size). It would be similar to the Web Scraper plugin, but instead of a URL you give it a path to an exe. And then instead of grabbing a screenshot of the page, it just looks for the text output.

With a plugin like that, I'd be able to do all kinds of cool things!

If that doesn't seem like a good idea for a plugin, some other ideas would be to add a text mode to the web scraper plugin so it could grab text instead of an image. I think that could help with the crispness of things and save me from having to worry about my image getting cut off with long text. Or maybe just a plugin that reads a text file and displays it (I could always have a background process update the text file with exactly what I want displayed).

I tried getting the plugin SDK to make something like this myself. I spend most of my work days in Visual Studio so I thought I'd have a chance. Sadly, my C# skills don't help me much in the C++ world and I could never figure out how to get it to work.

Thanks for the awesome app!

Hello everyone,
This is my first thread on this forum.
I have been using True Launch Bar since April 2007,
currently using TLB 7.3 portable with great results.

Hopefully I am posting in the right place.

In the Win. XP years, in Logitech setPoint, we could select a middle mouse button click function called “home mouse”. Clicking the middle mouse button would automatically move the mouse pointer to center of monitor screen.
For some reason, when Win.Vista came out, this function disappeared from setPoint. Since then I have been trying to find a way to get this function back without success.
This function was very valuable to me and many others for two main reasons:
1- I am visually impaired and I can lose track of the mouse pointer very easily (frustrating). By clicking the middle button of the mouse I would always know exactly where my mouse pointer is (without having to see the pointer).
2- When using a 2 monitors setup it always makes it very easy to locate the mouse pointer.
There are many other reasons why people would use this function.

I am hoping that someone on this forum could possibly create a small TLB plugin that would make this function available. If not via the middle mouse button it could possibly be via a hot key that we could select.
This function could also be included into a multiple monitor plugin.
I personally have zero knowledge in coding.

Thank you,
keeping my fingers crossed haha!

That'd be nice if we have a scheduling plugin. The plugin allows us to schedule tasks and can incorporate with other plugins.

For example, we can create a task to turn off computer (a function of Turn Off Computer plugin) in 20 minutes or at 12:00 AM.

As another example, a task taking the screenshot (a function of Make Screenshot plugin) is scheduled to run at 5:00 AM.

Or creating a task to run a command at every 10 minutes (integrate well with functions of Command Line plugin such as aliases).

I have used both WinKey and Hot Key Plus for more than ten years. They haven't been updated. They still work on XP, but I don't think they do on the newer systems.

The programs let me set hotkey combinations that use the Windows key, Ctrl, Alt, and Shift, in any combination, with any other key, to launch a program, open a folder or file, or launch a Web URL.

Examples:
My Windows key + w calls a shortcut to C:\Windows\explorer.exe, with the parameters /n,/e,C:\Windows\Temp. When I hit Winkey + w, a Windows Explorer window opens with the contents of Windows\Temp displayed.
My Windows key + p calls a shortcut to the executable for my daily planner/task scheduler program. When I hit Winkey + p, my planner opens.
I have a shortcut to my bank login. When I hit Winkey + F9, my default browser opens and goes to my bank login page.

I can use any combination of the operator keys (Ctrl, Winkey, etc.) and an alphabet key, number key, or function key.

I have not found versions of the Hot Key Plus or Winkey programs that are newer than 12 years old. Without programs like this, the Winkey is useless except for the few Windows-native hotkeys (Winkey + E for Explorer or Winkey + F for Search).

Is this an idea worth exploring?

Is it already possible to set hotkeys (of the user's choice) in TLB?

Hello!

What about a plugin that adds the following benefits to TLB:

- Pleases several existing suggestions for new plugins in one go
- Allows the use of shortcuts that are freeform
- Gets rid of bulky and artless seperators which are wasting space in order to group associated shortcuts
- Makes True Launch Bar WAY more fancy, since it will say goodbye to the quadratic-icons-all-over-the-place-look

This might be done within minutes. Because it's already there. Im talking about the Media Control Plugin. Less the 'Media'. Excluding the whole media player communication stuff that processes

command=playpause

and replacing it with the simple execution of

command=MyProgramOfChoice.exe /SomeCommandLineParameter

is all it takes to create the most versatile, all-round-component you can imagine. Instead of using separators, one can create skinned areas which group shortcuts. While this may look fantastic, it's also incredible powerful: In connection with a scripting language, this Control Plugin could be transformed into a skinnable control for literally ANY APPLICATION (!) that can be remotely controlled, be it by hotkeys, API, DDE calls or whatever.

Wouldn't this be awesome, or is it just me?
