Just installed Windows 8.1 Preview.

8.1 installs the new Windows START icon on the top of my TLB bar (see attached JPEG). I want it GONE, but Start Killer 3.2 has no effect on it.

As the new START screen is accessible from the bottom left of the screen and also from the normal Windows key on the keyboard it is simply redundant, unnecessary & a space waster on the TLB bar.

Can it be removed? How?

Thanks;
Doc

Yuri;

Have you seen this?

StartIsGone for Windows 8.1.

It is a single exe portable file that you add to the Startup Menu.
* Load the exe.
* Right-click on the running StartIsGone icon.
* Select Run at startup.

Works well.

Yes, I saw it. This looks like Start Killer clone Wink

BTW, Start Killer version 4.0 works with Windows 8.1 Wink

Hi Yuri;

Was not aware that StartKiller 4.0 was out; last time I looked it was still in Beta.

I installed it & you are right... it works flawlessly on Win 8.1.

Between StartKiller & StartIsGone I like StartKiller best because...
* It is about 1/6th the size of StartIsGone (both are very small however).
* StartKiller has a simple installer (thanks).
* StartKiller has some helpful information on the Settings pop-up.

Thanks again for another great product;
Doc
