We have some difference in the terms.
Toolbar - this is the panel with buttons
Button - this everything on the toolbar like shortcuts, menus, plugins
So the clock on your toolbar is button. So you can delete this button and all other will stay. Also you can hide buttons without deleting.

You would first have to create a new toolbar before you can close it separately. By default, TLB consists of only one main bar that replaces your Quick Launch Bar.
You can create a new toolbar either in the TLB options window in the "Toolbars" section, or by choosing the "True Launch Bar..." option in this menu.
