- Q Section - 02-01-2004 Does anyone know why TLB keeps trying to call home? We tried deleting all plugins and TLB still keeps trying to call home about every hour. It seems it did not used to do this until we added the TLB Version (WM) plugin but now it is deleted and we still continue to get entries in the firewall log. Perhaps (and we suspect) all the dll's do not unload from Win 98SE when they are not being used or called upon. Any ideas? - Q Section - 02-01-2004 We have verified that another outbound request from TLB has been logged. This time it is to an IP address that parses one of our weather pages. So it appears that even though every plug-in has been deleted there are still parts of the TLB that thinks that the plug-in is still active and tries to parse the provider site. This appears to be a major bug. Can anyone else notice this behaviour using a firewall log? EDIT Yuri - can you move these two posts to the Bugs section? Thank you. - Doug Smith - 02-01-2004 ! Quote:a major bugI wouldn't call it a major bug, in fact I think most users would think 'so what' Is it *that* important? - Yuri Kobets - 02-01-2004 TLB DOES NOT CALLING HOME Look on hidden items in toolbar. If you hide plugin button then it continue work and can access to internet. In the TLB FAQ see this topic. - Q Section - 02-01-2004 Our greatest apologies! You are absolutely correct! There were two hidden plug-ins listed that were definitely the ones causing the logging!! We apologise profusely! We somehow knew TLB was not designed to do such a thing but we could not figure out why the behaviour. True Launch Bar has never "called in" by itself. It is the best add-on one can have! |
