what is the best image editor to use with png, cos i am trying to create my own media control skin, just in mspaint, and its starting to annoy me, is there any good ones out there?

The Gimp is free.
If you want to spend some cash, and can't afford PhotoShop, JASC's Paint Shop Pro is worth a look!
