Windows Vista Support - damien - 08-01-2005 Hello, I was curious when you might have Windows Vista support included. I am in the beta program and noticed that the application will install, but the Explorer extension doesn't seem to work. There is no option when right clicking and selecting toolbars to pick the TrueLaunchBar option. - Yuri Kobets - 08-02-2005 Hmm... bad news I hoped TLB must work on Vista too. OK I must to investigate this problem. - Yuri Kobets - 08-02-2005 BTW maybe there are any security settings for shell extensions. Like with IE extensions after XP SP2? - Eric J Johnson - 08-30-2005 I do not come here enough lol or I could have saved you having to look into this. I have been running TLB under Vista with NO problems (Except for the recent .8 beta that doesn't save your text color settings) For those that may read this, Yuri is 100% correct.. Open your Internet Explorer 7.0 window You need to click "Tools" just under your tabs. Then "Internet Options" and under "Browsing" about half way down Check the box to the left of "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires restart)" Click Ok Now TLB will work :0) - Yuri Kobets - 08-30-2005 Thank you, Eric TLB under Vista 5381 - stroute - 05-14-2006 I am running RC2 of TLB successfully without any problems with build 5381 (technical tester for MS).Found following issue:If you install v3.2 of TLB and then installed RC2 on top of it and then clicking yes to the reboot and after that you get the following. Normal Toolbar but NO desktop or Desktop icons. I found by installing 3.2 first and creating some folders and then reboot it works. I then did the check for update from within the program and it updated it just fine. I would then enter the serial number and all is running as expected without any noticable problems or bugs. Have tried out the 3.2.9beta with 5381? Do I dare try it out and see if it breaks. Thanks, Steve Troute stroute@pcconnectnw.com Vista 5456.5 - stroute - 07-04-2006 Quick comment for all to read. TLB 4.0 installs but does not work with this newer build of Vista. I'm not sure how many of us are lucky enough to test this version but as ealier mentioned, TLB works fine with beta2. - Xyzzy - 07-05-2006 I am not convinced that it is useful working on compatibility with BETA software Vista is. X. Vista betas - stroute - 07-05-2006 I completely disagree with the previous comment. I think it is not only useful but very valid to be able to test TLB with Vista. Their is I am sure a plan to have a working version with Vista with the release and the only way to help complete this is to let those who have the knowhow and abilities to test it with Vista. My update what information to comment on how it was working but now with this newer version it no longer works. Lets work together and see this great product work with Vista. If you don't think it is valid or correct, that is your opinon and you are then not asked to test it. - Xyzzy - 07-06-2006 stroute, I think you didn't understand. Vista is beta (let me repeat for you, BETA) software, still changing as you probably noted (as TLB was working with previous release, but not current, and I don't think Yuri deliberately broke v4 compatibility). I think that it is waste of time to try to make TLB run on every released beta and interim builds, because it may be "broken" in next build anyway (ie. it may be in perfect condition, but made incompatible or crashing by Vista changes). When Vista goes gold or rtm- this is the time to make fixes. Currently noone is able to test TLB with Vista; there is time for Vista testing. If TLB does not work with Vista, you should report it to Microsoft, not here- it's Vista that is beta, not TLB. Now people who try to "test" it (as opposed to just playing with it) are just plain wasting their time. X. TLB 4.0 a no go with Vista 5456.5 - stroute - 07-15-2006 I am testing the newest version (newer than beta2). TLB worked fine wth Beta2 but I just wanted to make sure that it is the newer build 5456.5 where is does not work. If you have anymore questions please contact me. If you have anymore questions please contact me.I've tested TLB with Vista 5456.5 worked well. But there are problems with update. So if you install 5384.4 then update up to 5456.5 you have the problems. In this case the only way to tunon TLB - right-click taskbar select toolbars tab and check the "True Launch Bar". On clear install 5384.4 TLB works well. TLB with Vista build 5472 - stroute - 08-01-2006 I did a clean install of the newest build of Vista 5472 and just wanted to say everything with TLB 4.0 works just perfect. Microsoft must have changed something. For the install though I ran in compatability mode and as an administrator. Looking good - Yuri Kobets - 08-01-2006 Yes, with Vista 5472 all works correctly. Thank you. - damien - 08-29-2006 Hate to be back with bad news... Anyone else get it working on 5536 Pre-RC1? It had been working with the past few builds just fine, but it seems MS changed some things again. The monthly drop just prior to the Pre-RC1 version worked fine. With the Pre-RC1 version the software installs just fine & I can try to pick a bar from the right click menu on the taskbar, but when I select "True Launch Bar" nothing happens anymore. Quick circle icon (hourglass) & then nothing... Latest 4.0 release of TLB by the way. |
