- Yuri Kobets - 01-24-2003 Changes in version v.1.2 beta: * Added support of unlimited number of parameters * Added support of changing icons for weather condition * Added support for URLs with parameters (form submit) * Details window to show all parameters in table * Values upload time/change time * Added support of numbers with thousand and decimal separator * Web page parser now strip HTML tags * Some bugs fixed Download: http://www.truelaunchbar.com/plugins/bin/tlbweathermon.exe More information: http://www.truelaunchbar.com/plugins/weathermon/index.php - shapeshifter - 01-24-2003 I installed this plugin over the top of the previous version (like I do with all new plugin versions) and after I rebooted, my taskbar position was reset to the default positions. I went ahead and added the plugin to the taskbar (I was using the previous version, but neither version showed up anymore). The plugin showed up fine, but afterwards I couldn't reposition or resize the toolbars on my taskbar, locked or not. I deleted the new plugin, and was able to reposition everything with a little struggle, but when I locked it, the positions reset to default again. Finally, I noticed a small blank area where the old weather monitor had been. I hovered over it and saw the weather monitor tooltip, so I deleted that, and everything was fine. Very strange indeed. On another note, could you please start adding version numbers to the install files (i.e. tlbweathermonitor1_2.exe)? When I downloaded the new file, it overwrote the last one, so if I had wanted to reinstall the old version, I couldn't. Adding the version number would help keep everything straight and allow for downgrading, if necesary. - shapeshifter - 01-24-2003 By the way, other than what I listed above, it looks like a great update I especially like all the new information we can display now - cmishima - 01-24-2003 Win 2000 / True Launch Bar 2.2 / Screen is set to High color (16 bit) and 1280*1024 At the moment Weather Monitor upgrade is acting very strange. If I install *over* old weather monitor then Explorer.exe will crash. I deleted old weather monitor and re-installed upgrade but sometimes it will hang or crash explorer. At all times the button is INVISIBLE - I cannot see button for weather monitor. I will test more this weekend but at the moment it is very unstable. - shapeshifter - 01-24-2003 There are several bugs with the provided skins, too. Here's a list: Compact 16 (black or white text) and compact 32 - displays temperature and icon only, regardless of what user selects to display. Default 16 (black or white text) - displays temperature always, regardless of what user selects to display. If the user selects to display temperature, it is moved down a line, and the top spot is left blank, leaving room for temperature and only one other choice. If temperature is left off the list, it is displayed first. Also, in "Black" text version, text is blue (r9 g4 b128 - #090480). Full 32 - completely ignores user's selections. Displays only temperature, pressure, humidity, and conditions. It appears that this is by design after looking at the skin.ini. So then the question becomes, why release a skin that ignores the user's parameters with a plugin that boasts unlimted parameters? I know temperature is probably the most used parameter, but I can think of several scenarios where the user would want to turn it off in place of somethng else, especially with all the choices available now. Also, is it possible to keep the tooltip up for as long as the mouse hovers on the plugin? There's a lot of information, and a very short time to read it all. Would be nice feature to add to other plugins, too (net monitor, drive space, system monitor, clock etc). - shapeshifter - 01-24-2003 I just found the weather details window, which is nice, but not as quick and intuitive to use as the tooltip (if it stayed up longer). Maybe it's possible to surpress the OS generated tooltip, and create a custom one in the plugin itself? - Yuri Kobets - 01-25-2003 Yes, the new version is bit incompatible with old So I recommend delete Weather Monitor button before upgrading. If you are already install new version so you can right-click on empty space of toolbar select Open and delete file "Weather Monitor.tlbplugin". About details window: You can setup Weather Monitor to show details window on click (instead of opening webpage). But custom tooltips is great idea - cmishima - 01-25-2003 I have now tested weather plugin 1.2 on several systems. For stability. User must delete all instances of old version 1.1 even hidden versions. If Weather underground URL is offline then sometimes weather plugin becomes invisible on True Launch Bar Regarding user parameters. I agree with Shapeshifter summary. In all skins user chosen parameters are not accepted consistently. FULL 32 does not accept any user choices. Also I wonder why the two conditions pressure and temperature are made as defaults. My opinion is this is good upgrade but definitely only BETA version so new version should be released soon. Anyway thank you for hard work. - mark davidson - 01-26-2003 the added functionality of v1.2 beta is nice and i appreciate the hard work that went into it but i'm wondering ... does anyone else find the numerical text too small to be easily readable? this was true to a lesser extent after 1.1 but easier-to-read user skins soon followed and that may again occur. even so, it would be a nice touch if the base plugin had a 'large-type' (relatively speaking) version for old farts like me who don't see that well anymore. thanks for a great application! - Yuri Kobets - 01-26-2003 Here you can download Weather Monitor Pack All skins with all parameters are user defined. Also I want to tell about unexpected feature of the Weather Monitor. In attached file you will find two new providers files: The first named NASDAQ will takes values from http://www.nasdaq.com - monitors financial weather The second named True Launch Bar takes the current version of True Launch Bar from website. Suitable skins are included These are test providers. Maybe they not so useful but exelent show the opportunities of Weather Monitor. If you what to have parameters from other sources write here PS. Now try to make skins with large numbers - cmishima - 01-26-2003 I have downloaded the weather monitor pack. I think it is better although I think some skins still are not working for example on my system compact 32 will not show user parameters Also NASDAQ defaults to load Weather underground NOT <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.nasdaq.com">www.nasdaq.com</a><!-- w --> I can't get True Launch Bar to load version. Maybe I am not setting up correctly. However I think the ability to load providers is very interesting. I wonder what kind of information user can download - Yuri Kobets - 01-26-2003 Quote:I can't get True Launch Bar to load version. You must write http://www.truelaunchbar.com in the URL property. For NASDAQ URL must to be http://www.nasdaq.com - Maximus - 01-29-2003 Please send me TLB Weather Monitor v 1.1 Please ! lalik@tenbit.pl - BarryJ - 01-29-2003 cmishima Wrote:However I think the ability to load providers is very interesting. Just a suggestion. - mark76uk - 02-17-2003 cmishima Wrote:However I think the ability to load providers is very interesting. I wonder what kind of information user can downloadI agree. The coolest example I can think of is live updated train times. I could glance down and see when the next trains will arrive/depart from my local station. Well, maybe if I travelled a lot |
