- Yuri Kobets - 06-17-2004 TLB Components Manager is replacement for TLB Live Update. Comaponent Manager have some new features: * Favorites to ignore some of components * Automatic update in hidden mode (use command line tlbupd.exe /S) * Uninstalling components * New user interface Since the next version of TLB all components (plugins, updates, language packs etc.) will be distributed via TLB Components Manager (and direct links) Download TLB Components Manager: http://download.truelaunchbar.com/install/tlbupd.zip Unzip file into any folder (or inside TLB folder) and run. Right now you can download updates for some plugins via components manager: * Drive Space * CD Control * Spacer * Process Viewer Try to update these plugins via components manager. I'm waiting for your comments. - Yuri Kobets - 06-17-2004 Here is screenshot - cmishima - 06-17-2004 At the end of the update process 'components manager' asks if the user wants to restart. However it does not provide option to Cancel. You must close window. I think it should have two buttons Restart and Cancel (restart later) - Yuri Kobets - 06-17-2004 On Cancel it must to close window? - ozxar - 06-17-2004 this is great, will this be included in the next TLB version? also one small thing i noticed is that i have version 1.9.9 Mail Monitor, but the current version is 1.9.8??? - Dracula - 06-18-2004 Looks nice, works fine! About the inconsistent Mail Monitor version, that's even visible in Yuri's own screenshot ![]() I agree with cmishima it's a bit strange to ask Do you want to reboot the computer? and only provide a button that will restart the computer... there should be another button labeled "No, I'll decide when to reboot!" (or similar, like "Restart later") ![]() In the favorites section, in the action combobox, there's a typo in "Ingnore" which should be "Ignore". I'm wondering, what effect do these action settings have? For example, when I choose to ignore updates for "System Monitor", will it still be listed in the Updates section, just with an unchecked checkbox? Or will it not even be displayed in the list? I'd prefer the first option, since it allows the user to at least *see* what updates are available and to 'override' the favorites settings... I still need to test whether this updater is more 'intelligent' than the previous: I often close TLB and restart explorer.exe before updating, so no TLB DLL's are in use... However, the LiveUpdate still wanted to reboot in order to replace the DLL's, which is silly... So then I simply replaced them manually ![]() Sadly, all my customized skins (png and ini files) were replaced with the default skins after updating... I think it's my mistake because I didn't rename them... The System Monitor seems broken, but that's for another thread... - Yuri Kobets - 06-18-2004 Quote:also one small thing i noticed is that i have version 1.9.9 Mail Monitor, but the current version is 1.9.8Now I see ![]() Quote:agree with cmishima it's a bit strange to ask Do you want to reboot the computer? and only provide a button that will restart the computer... there should be another button labeled "No, I'll decide when to reboot!" (or similar, like "Restart later")I agree too. But I do not know what behavior this button must have. There are two type: 1) Close TLB Component Manager 2) Reset it into default state (like after start) Or I can change the text to something like "... press Restart Comuter button to restart or close TLB Components Manager to continue". In this case new button is not needed. What do you think about this?? Quote:I'm wondering, what effect do these action settings have? I'd prefer the first option, since it allows the user to at least *see* what updates are available and to 'override' the favorites settings...Ignore - removes component from the list of updates. But now I'll add option "Ask not checked" to add components into list but do not check them by deafult. So it must work correctly now, but if you can confirm this will be very good ![]() Quote:Sadly, all my customized skins (png and ini files) were replaced with the default skins after updating... Quote:will this be included in the next TLB version?Yes ![]() - cmishima - 06-18-2004 ![]() - Yuri Kobets - 06-18-2004 How about this variant? - HorusUK - 06-18-2004 Everything looks cool from here, and I've tested out the silent install option too! With regards to rebooting, could you add a power users switch that would detect the presence (in memory) of tlb.dll or explorer.exe, then decide if a restart is needed, or if the update could restart explorer.exe for you? - divinity - 06-18-2004 hey -- this utility is great! just a couple suggestions: 1. "Ignore" is spelled incorrectly in the "favorites" view. 2. the Weather Monitor plugin doesn't seem to be listed. 3. "Uninstall" doesn't list items that were installed before the tlbupd.exe utility. 4. plugins that aren't currently installed should default to "ignore" hope these suggestions are helpful...i'm really enjoying the program. thanks again, yuri! - Dracula - 06-19-2004 Yuri Kobets Wrote:How about this variant?Yuri, that looks excellent. And don't forget to include the 'Finish' button when no updates are available... - Q Section - 06-19-2004 divinity Wrote:2. the Weather Monitor plugin doesn't seem to be listed.WM not in our list either. Yuri Wrote:How about this variant? It looks good! - Yuri Kobets - 06-19-2004 Quote:And don't forget to include the 'Finish' button when no updates are available...Yes, thank you ![]() Quote:"Uninstall" doesn't list items that were installed before the tlbupd.exe utility.Yes, this is true. Uninstall tab contain anly component installed via TLB CM. In the future ALL plugins downloaded via direct link will be compatible with component manager too. Quote:plugins that aren't currently installed should default to "ignore"Hm... maybe you are right Quote:WM not in our list either. Also there are no TLB Clock, Media Control and Wireless Monitor. They will be added soon. Now TLB CM is in testing mode. - Yuri Kobets - 06-19-2004 Here is updated TLB CM Please test it. What's new: * Added Finish button * Added list of downloaded & installed components * Added option to disable autoselect not installed components * Added "Ask (do not select)" action into favorites I'm waiting for your comments. Also you can download update for system monitor with fixed default skin ![]() Edited By Yuri Kobets on June 19 2004 at 18:25 |
