I see it's not there. The plug-in should appear named 'S.M.A.R.T.' in that menu. Oh well, it's not too spectacular to miss, just functional. I would do a screenshot, but it keeps distorting as I take it, as if the numbers are updating too fast.

Hello...

First, thx to all of U that try my plugin...

QSection >---------------------------
I see that some have problems installing the plug-in with Win98... It's probably because environement variable "%WINDIR%" is not defined on Win98, or regsrv32.exe is not on the /system32/ folder....

So to install the plug-in manually, find your "regsrv32.exe" and open the plugin DLL with this EXE (Drag'n'drop the DLL on EXE)... A message "DLLRegisterServer in TLBSmart.dll succeded...". Then restart computer... Now TLB S.M.A.R.T. option should appear.

mark76uk >---------------------------

The "Delay" combo box on the properties window is the time S.M.A.R.T. waits between two polls... So if you choose "100ms", the plug-in will ask 10 times per second the HDD temperature... so the disks make some noise, and the IDE activity LED is always on...

On some systems, you have to open properties window again (and again) and re-check the delay... It seems that the delay chosen during button creation is not recorded :/
I have to correct it...
mark76uk, tell me if it's working when you re-check the delay...

shapeshifter >---------------------

If Active SMART doesn't reports a temperature, it's because your HDD does not support this propertie... so my plug-in won't work...

---------------------------
THX TO ALL OF U

PsY4, you're right. I needed to set the delay twice to stop it checking every 100ms.

Neither your plugin or Active SMART will show a temperature for Drive 1. Isn't that odd for a one year old drive? Nothing to do with it being partitioned, I guess.

Hello PsY4

We were able to get the option to show now. Thank you. We did get the "8", though. We have more than one drive that uses SMART but should we not get at least something to show? Please see our image posted earlier.

Could it be that there is an older S.M.A.R.T. version that has only some of the information (no temperature) that the newer versions have? After all, we have all this:

Hello again everybody...

QSection >--------------
According to Western Digital wbsite, your WB102AA EIDE drives do not have a SMART attribute for heat sensing... That's why... Others drives may be too old.
Temperature attribute is C2h (194d), so as it's not in the attribute list, you can't get it...

mark76uk >--------------
As i explained, SMART option on HDD is devided in attributes, and on some SMART drives, there is only some attributes... but your WD drive should have this attribute... Did you get a result with Active SMART (or other)?

-------------
-------------

Here is a new version of the Plug-In, smaller in size, and it should fix the time combo box problem.
Code:
Upgrade procedure
------------------
1/ Remove from toolbars any TLBSmart buttons...
2/ Restart explorer (or windows or computer)
3/ Replace the plugin DLL
4/ Restart explorer (...)
5/ Add a TLBSmart button ...
---------------------------------------------------
Code:
What's new?
------------
1/ Time combo box problem should be fixed....
2/ Error code set to "0"...
3/ Dll size is 52.0 KB...

To be more representative i have put a "0" instead of "8" when error occurs...

Hi, I was away for the weekend. I reinstalled Windows too
(nothing to do with the plugin, Big Grin). No True Launch Bar or
other programs installed yet.

No temperature was shown in Active SMART. I'll try again
when my computer is all fixed-up.

/Mark
