Hi,

I run a dual monitor setup & have 2 launch bars, one on the right side of the primary monitor, the other on the bottom of the secondary monitor.

About half the time, if I switch to another account (fast user switching in XP), & switch back, the launch bar from the secondary monitor appears at the bottom of the primary monitor & I have to drag it back up to the secondary.

I recently switched to XP from win2k & never saw this with 2k. This is a "fresh" install of XP & not an upgrade. Formated disk & started from scratch...

Sometimes happens after a reboot as well.

...:::My System Info:::...

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1

Shell Version:6.0.2800.1106

Internet Explorer Version: 6.0.2800.1106

TLB version: 2.2.0.15

..........................

I tried using the gpedit.msc tip I found in the FAQ, problem remains.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Best regards,

Rich

Try changing the "Use this device as the primary monitor" setting on "Display Properties | Settings" tab.

XP has always baffled me in it's logic for screen and element placement. A rule of thumb I use, is to make sure the screen that the primary Windows taskbar (and Quick Launch/TLB Quick Launch) is on should be marked as the primary monitor in "Display Properties". Another thing I found when I used fast-user switching was that if the display settings on the profile you switched to had the main windows Taskbar on another screen, then the taskbar would always move.

I recall seeing a utility that claimed to be able to lock toolbars in place, and make them do things they SHOULD do, such as stopping windows opening underneath them, etc. I'll have a google on that one!

Hello HorusUK,

Thanks for the sugestions. Tried them, no change.

Did find another interesting thing that may help duiagnose this.

If I right-click on the toolbar that is on my secondary monitor & select "auto-hide" the toolbar that is on my PRIMARY monitor dissappears! It seems that the settings of the second toolbar are interacting (or acting upon) the toolbar on my primary monitor.

Also,

Checked the path for both toolbars & they are unique:

C:\Documents and Settings\Rich\Application Data\TrueLaunchBar\Rich

C:\Documents and Settings\Rich\Application Data\TrueLaunchBar\Web

Hmmm. I'm beginning to suspect the video cards you have may be causing problems. I just had to rollback to 56.63 nVidia drivers as the latest 56.56 release played havoc with my monitors. Could you detail their spec here, please?

A preliminary Google on this hasn't turned up a lot yet, but I have a couple of other sources to try, but need some additional info first! :S

Isn't the Radeon 9600SE a dual-header card? From the specs I've seen, you don't need the nVidia - unless you're saving up for a third monitor of course!

Could you let me know a little more about the video setup you have? Specifically, details on the Radeon card...
Back once again...
