The context menu for every item in ever toolbar indicates that the item can be renamed via the F2 key. It does not work. Pushing F2 does nothing.

Is this possible to rename the files in the Windows Explorer by pressing F2? Maybe you have the global hotkey for F2?

In Explorer and many other programs, F2 does indeed change the name. But not in TLB.

Please can you try to use the CTRL+F2?

That also does not work. Note that F2 and Ctrl-F2 both work for renaming items in menus. But neither one works for renaming items in toolbars.

Please note, the toolbar must to have the keyboard focus to use F2. Pointing the button is not enough.

So how does one obtain keyboard focus on a toolbar item, other than by pointing the mouse to it?

You can pass the keyboard focus by hotkey: TLB Settings->Toolbar->Activate toolbar hotkey

Other way use the X-Mouse feature of some drivers of external utilities. X-Mouse activate the window you point.

So I have created an activate toolbar hotkey and have pressed it. The toolbar is highlighted. I put the mouse on any item and hit F2 or ctrl-F2. Still, absolutely nothing happens.

If you mean, can I navigate around in the toolbar with the cursor keys, the answer is yes.

Correction: no, the cursor keys do not work to navigate within the toolbar. They work to navigate within menus but not within toolbars. The mouse works everywhere.
