I've figured out my accidental and massive file deletions were mostly the result of my not fully understanding how standard Windows toolbars work. Didn't know you could create toolbars for files and directories -- that deleting files from a directory toolbar also deletes the file. Only ever used the QuickLaunch bar. Somehow I created one of these bars for my XP %user% directory and (like an idiot) sat there and deleted anything that didn't generate a "files in use" error (dumb blond syndrome). Mistakingly I thought TrueLauch Bar did it, but it was a Microsoft thing. Maybe as a profession I shouldn't aspire to manage servers.

Not quite sure what else I did, but the explorer.exe errors have gone away, and 2 of the bars work fine simultaneously. Discovered the Weather button and suddenly the evil-shareware-software is WonderBar.

Question: Is there a way to set the power button so that right-clicking will perform a non-prompted power-down?
