How to get cursor to menu, if overlap disabled and toolbar is 2 columns

I have toolbars that are two columns, with overlap disabled. So the menus pop out of the right side . . . of the second column.

Say I am mousing down the toolbar's first column to my desired menu. The menu pops out from the right side of the toolbar. I can see no way to get my mouse cursor over there. As I move the cursor across the toolbar's second column, the menu items on the second column are activated, thus losing the menu I am seeking.

The only way to solve this problem is disable the option:
TLB Settings->Mouse->Auto pop up next first level menu.

After disabling this option all first level menus will be opened on click only.
