Shrtcuts to folders

I Really like the "put a shortcut to a folder here, and it will expand when clicked."

But sometimes, that makes it so that the only way it will open is to right-click and then select "Open."

I get why that happens, but is there some way to select certain folders and have them opn "like normal shortcuts" while the rest open as expanded folders?

Right-click the shortcut and turn off the option "Expand folder". This will make the regular shortcut.
