True Launch Bar cannot handle double byte characters. So True Launch Bar cannot d&d a URL like this to the launch bar.

http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auc...w_auctions

For most current True Launch Bar users this has no relevance *but* WQL *can* handle such URL’s and so it is very relevant to all non European language users.

I think remaking True Launch Bar to handle such matters is important if compatibility with QWL is claimed. At the moment my co-workers can easily refuse to use True Launch Bar because of this fact.

I think this requires a lot of work for Mr. Kobets. So I have thought of work-around that might do the job and also might provide nice new features.

Let True Launch Bar have the ability (like UNIX) to use Aliases. True Launch Bar could provide a way to assign a single byte name to a double byte URL like below

Auction
[url=http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c14326326?u=mw_auctions

Alias]http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp....p>Alias[/url] is name Auction. I could then click auction and True Launch Bar would launch the double byte URL.

If True Launch Bar used aliases then many long filenames could be reduced to one simple user-defined name. All the possibilities of UNIX alias function could then be used by True Launch Bar.

This is my suggestion. Before I put in suggestion box I would like to hear Mr. Kobets comment. Of course I would like to hear from other users but maybe you are not interested in this problem because double byte is not needed by you.

However if you understand the power of the UNIX function alias you will appreciate my suggestion. What do you think?

Analog of UNIX alias is shortcuts. I try to make this. With internet shortcuts this must work Smile
