Thanks for your quick answer

I already did 2), but that didn't help.
So I did 1): I started regsrv32.exe netmon.dll, incl. the full path, but then the following error message appears: "LoadLibrary ("netmon.dll") failed - A Device Attached to the System Is Not Functioning."
Then I searched (at google) what could be the cause for this error message - and found this MS site:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/139434/EN-US/">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/139434/EN-US/</a><!-- m -->
and this
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B139434&x=13&y=10">http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3 ... &x=13&y=10</a><!-- m -->
Then I tried method 2 from this pages (extract the winoa386.new from the original Win98SE CD) but even that didn't help (still the "Device Attached to the System Is Not Functioning" error message appears.).
I also found this page
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.salefind.com/tech/Explanation%20of%20Regsvr32%20Usage%20and%20Error%20Messages.htm">http://www.salefind.com/tech/Explanatio ... ssages.htm</a><!-- m -->
where you can find the remark referring this error message:
"This behavior can occur if you try to register a Win16 .dll file"
(at the bottom of the page).
I use a German Windows 98SE (original, not cracked), and my network card in my PC is a network adapter connected via USB ("Teledat Fast Ethernet USB").
Hope you can help me with this error message.
