I'd like to chime in on this.
Not sure if my issue is the same but just yesterday I had this same issue with News Reader 3.4.
All of a sudden all of my RSS feeds were not updating at all. And the quick fix for it was to drag the New Reader plugin off the windows taskbar which by the way also made windows explorer crash
and then I dragged it back to the windows taskbar and then all my rss feeds started updating again.
I have no idea why they stopped working in the first place. I have never had this happen before with builds prior to 3.4.
Also I am using Windows Internet Settings for my Internet connection.
There must be a small bug somewhere in the latest build.
