If you are having success with the RC1 version of XP SP2 I think then you are not using active desktop or such programs like Dave's Quick Search Deskbar
XP SP2 causes programs that utilize active content on local machines to halt with error messages on each refresh. It is very annoying and has been discussed on several forums.
During the time I tested True Launch Bar had no problems.
I use active desktop so I removed RC1 XP SP2.
