I have 2 problems with a secondary toolbar located at the top of the screen :
- sometimes, I don't know when nor why, almost all button disappear suddenly (see screenshot)
- for a few days, explorer crashes every time I reboot. Now it crashes continually . I've closed the toolbar and all is working...
note : I've tried with TLB 2.2.0.17 and there are the same problems...
Merops it looks like you have a seperator on the toolbar there. Right-click it, and make sure that Enable Expand/Collapse is not checked, as that may be why the icons are disappearing...
As for the crashes, I can't help without more information. I run several toolbars at various edges of a multi-monitor setup, and have the occasional crash. I'm in the process of testing a hunch I have about the MS Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime modules causing instability in explorer.exe and subsequently TLB.
Do you know if you have the MS Visual Basic 6.0 runtimes installed?

"Enable Expand/Collapse" is not checked.... When it arrives, it seems that icons become very large (in height) and the close button is not anymore aligned.
As I have just formated, I don't think I have MS Visual Basic 6.0 Runtime installed... but I'll try to download it and see what happens
You mention you've just formatted. There could be a potential driver problem, especially if the graphics are getting distorted.
I've found a similar problem in the past especially with nVidia drivers, and the only resolution was to re-install them.
Hello Merops
Just for the sake of completeness - do you have any plugins running that parse information external to your computer i.e. Weather Monitor? If so are any of them custom created i.e. not "as-is" from True Launch Bar?

Try to find that shortcuts in the hidden (right-click "show hidden").

Crashes on shutdown or on start windows? Please cab you backup your toolbar and send it to support@tsoftcentral.com I'll check your configuration.

Thank you for the answers
HorusUK, I've tried all drivers I had and it's working with the olds... So it's perhaps a nVidia drivers problem.
QSection, I've just two plugins : Network Monitor and Volume Control and they are "as-is" from True Launch Bar
Yuri, I don't think shortcuts are hidden but I'll see next time (and I'll do a better screenshot).
Crashes on start windows...
Thanks for backup but I cannot reproduce the bug I've restarted some times and all works fine. When explorer chashes do you get any window with error description? There you can find the dll name where the bug is.

I think that I've resolved my problem : it seems that a conflict between a shorcut located on the toolbar and the same software which automatically run on windows startup was responsible for crachs!
Please can you tell what is that software? Maybe I can fix this incompatibility.

Hi everybody, and hi Yuri.
Thanks for an excellent software.
Just something about the "Explorer crashes" You are discussing.
Yes, it happens that explorer crashes, but nothing serious, it restarts and works fine, like using "Refresh", something that sometimes could be caused of clicking in contextmenu, changing textcolors,if it`s done on many icons, after a while everything hangs up, and a restart is the only solution.
But why I wrote this is because of one really nasty crash two days ago, and I read the thread about Visual Basic, maybe it could be the reason.
Nothing helped, tried to restore twice, uninstalled TLB twice, but the problem was still there, and a dialog every time, "Would You like to debug Explorer using Visual Basic".
An unhandled exception occurred in Win 32, and it happened when I changed an icon, using context.
But it´s the first, and I think last, time it happens.
I have found the solution, and I think maybe it could help others, even with other kind of problems, in the TLB-menu folder I used when it crashed, I deleted the xml-data and the setupdata, and then everything works fine, as always,ok the settings for that folder of course will be deleted.
A problem that I´ve had a long time, the text of icons jumps at the left when mouse over, but because of the crash, I found a solution , it happens when changing textcolors, but the solution is to use systems standardcolors, and all the buttons the buttons that jumped could be as normal, if dragging the icons to desktop and then dragging them back to the TLB menu.
Thanks for TLB, and have a nice day Yuri.
But I found the solution,
You are welcome, swedone skindesign
Please can you remember what icon do you select when TLB crash?
Good to see I'm not the only one tracking this VB runtime issue. I can't seem to find anything in the newsgroups similar to this, but my experiments here are showing a definite stability issue in explorer.exe when msvbm60.dll is in memory.
Unfortunately, there are some VB apps that I have to run to be able to work to pay the bills, so I can't keep the VB runtimes off my systems!
Though TLB does not use msvbvm60.dll there are can be software that use it in explorer.
Anyway the version of msvbvm60.dll on my system is: 6.0.92.37
And it is stable - I'm do not have any problems when using VB apps.
Do these VB apps do anything to explorer? Toolbars, shell extensions, etc... these may be more likely to influence explorer since they run in it's context...
What might help is to open an explorer window, goto Tools -> Folder Options, View tab and check "Launch folder windows in a seperate process". This helps isolate the issues with explorer extensions, if it crashes it'll only crash that process, not the taskbar etc. Don't know if it's available under Win9x btw... it sure helped me with a few buggy extensions...
