In all toolbars, round icons look bad. They appear very low resolution. If I take a round icon that looks fine on the Windows desktop and copy it to a toolbar, it looks irregular. This happens with all round icons.

Please can you post the screenshot? Also, what icon size do you use on TLB?

Here is the problem. Usually I recommend to use the standard windows icon sizes: 16, 32, 48 (maybe 24). 40x40 non-standard size and TLB have to scale icon. Well... scale quality is not very good Sad I'll try to increase scale quality, but scaled icons will be always worse. As solution, I can recommend to find 40x40 icons in PNG format, or scale then in external image editor and apply then to the items.

So I found a 256 pixel version and used Faststone Image to reduce it to 40x40 and saved the bitmap (bmp) as a .ico file. I then changed to that icon in TB, and it looks even far worse than before. I also saved it in PNG format as an .ico file. That also looks just as bad as before.

I also tried setting TLB to use icons of 32 size or 48 size. Same problem. All round icons look bad.

Somehow this problem has gone away. I did nothing to fix it.

Windows 10. The round icons looked bad in Windows 10 for many months. But now they look OK.
