Volume Control loses my microphone after a reboot

After each system reboot, Volume Control displays only my speakers, but not microphone. The microphone slider appears (and functions flawlessly) after adding that device again, but upon the next reboot everything repeats. The speakers are connected to the built-in sound card, but the microphone is inside a web camera connected via USB. How to fix this issue?
