It would be nice if it could actually show the Real external IP address. In my setup(I'm on a fiber - 60/60 Mbit) I have a fiber router which is connected to my own router, a Trendnet tew-818. In this case Real IP shows "unknown" and ip 0.0.0.0! I have tried with various other scripts etc., which returns the correct external IP.

I hope you can fix it.

Thanks in advance

Please can you open this url: http://ipxml.info/myip/
This page shows xml with your real IP address. Real IP request this page and parse xml to get the external IP address. Does this page show correct IP?

Interesting... do you use the proxy in the browser?

No proxy used. I'm connected directly to the router, wireless and wired.

Pls. remember that I'm behind 2 routers as mentioned in the startup post, but http://ipxml.info/myip/ returns the correct external IP address so it should not be a problem.

No matter how many routers. Plugin just download the URL and parse xml file to get IP. Maybe the firewall block TLB to access the internet? Most firewalls block Windows Explorer by default. So if you are using TLB on the taskbar this can be why it does not show your IP.

very strange!

First of all can you pls. inform med what ports Real IP is using since I can't find any reference to it in the firewall setup(I'm on Windows 7- 64 bit).
The reason for me to ask this is that if I try the XML parse link you provided me with ealier works, but the XML parse from TLB does not.... what might the difference?

Secondly, I've trid to un-unstall/re-install Real IP - no change.

The URL is exactly
Code:
http://ipxml.info/myip/
So the port is 80. What firewall do you use? Also where is your TLB? Is it on the taskbar of this is the standalone TLB?

Just for testing, can you try to install one of other plugins that request data from internet: Weather Forecast, News Reader, Web Scraper. They make the same work and if they are not working too, then something block TLB from internet access.

Hi again,

http://ipxml.info/myip/

replies 87.xxx.yy.zzz DK Denmark

xxx.yy.zzz are of course numbers, and these are correst

I have the Weather Forecast and Mail Monitor plugins installed as well and the work just fine.

The firewall is the built in for Windows 7 Pro-64 bit and TLB is in the taskbar.

I've prepared the updated version here. This version download XML file into the folder %temp% (just type this in the Windows Explorer address bar). File name is tlb-realip-file.xml.

Install this version (maybe restart required), run TLB and find tlb-realip-file.xml file in %temp% folder. Please can you send this file to me (support@tordex.com). You can open this file with notepad and replace the IP address Wink

Thank you very much for the file. I've found the bug on server (incorrect XML was produced) and fixed it. I guess the Real IP now show your IP correctly (or refresh toolbar to reload plugin). Please let me know if the bug is fixed or not.

Hi,

yes, everything work fine now(just emailed you).
BTW, will you make an updated plugin that doesn't write XML data in the temp folder?

Best regards

.... just realized, that since the fault is "server-based" I don't need an update, I'll just revert to version 2.0

Yes, you can revert to v2.0 (via uninstall/install), but can stay on updated version. They both works by the same way, but 2.0 removes file, and updated does not remove it.
