Hello again

The previous problem with the liqpix skin selection not highlighting got solved. The other problem with the "use custom colors" is not solved. When we try to change any of the menu colors like "Menu text color" and using the default skin the settings refuse to change. This is with the box checked and unchecked for using custom colors. What we really want to accomplish is to change the "menu border color" from light blue to a medium green using the liqpix skin - that is all.

Thank you.

The skins specify their own menu color settings and these override whatever the user sets. To change the settigns when using a skin, you'll have to edit the tlbskin.ini file in the skin's subdirectory.

I loaded up the Liqpix skin to help you with your problem, but I don't see a light blue anything anywhere. All I see is basically red-orange and black. If the above information doesn't help you, you'll need to upload a screenshot so we can see what you're talking about.

If you will notice the menu border is medium grey. The skin is set for liqpix. If we set the skin to default we cannot change the menu border color with the "Use custom menu colors" box checked or unchecked. If we set the skin to liqpix the menu border is still medium grey and the menu border color settings cannot be changed. We checked and nowhere in the liqpix ini file is medium grey specified that we can tell. What we said earlier about light blue is actually a medium grey. Sorry - mal-adjusted screen.

Thank you for your patience.

I still don't see anything but red-orange and black. Nothing that looks anything like the border in your screenshot. I'm afraid I can't help with this one.

Yuri - We do not want the light blue or grey border. We prefer to have another color. This color you see appears in all the skins as menu border color. We would prefer to change it either in the default skin or in liqpix. We tried to change some parameters in the liqpix ini but could not make the menu border change.
1) in liqpix skin shapeshifter says it should be red/orange.
2) in default skin the menu border cannot be changed to anything but that color you see in the screenshot.
3) how can we make the menu border color change? The settings in properties do not respond.

Thank you.

Skins does not change the menu border color (this will be fixed). To set border into other color you must:
1) Turn on "Use custom menu colors" option
2) Set the "Menu Border Color" into color you want
All must work after these steps. If you cannot change color. Please send me setup.ini file (maybe by email). I'll try your options. BTW do you can change colors widthout skin?

The file was sent via e-mail. When you say can we change colors without skin we assume you mean in the default skin mode. No we cannot change them.

We have just noticed something interesting. We have on one computer two hard drives. Each has WIN 98SE. Both have TLB with the same plugins. (One of these hard drives is used for experimental purposes.) We booted up to the 'other' drive and found yes we could change colors and have full fucntionality with TLB. So obviously something is wrong with our main hard drive's files. What file allows or dis-allows those color settings to be made?

There are not such files. Maybe some software have conflicts with TLB?

Hello Yuri
Something strange is happening with the computer.

Your quote<<Please send me setup.ini file>>

The file sent was not the setup.ini. We clicked Windows Explorer>View>Folder Options>View>Show all files and made sure we already were showing "Show all files". There was no setup.ini showing under TLB folder. We just read another thread <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tsoftcentral.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=785">www.tsoftcentral.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ ... ;f=1;t=785</a><!-- w -->
and lo and behold THERE IT IS! The missing setup.ini file! It still does not show in Explorer, though! Hmmmph!?! Anyway here is the file:

Now can you make anything out of it to learn why our custom colors will not change? (and that light blue/grey menu border)

Thank you.

Yuri - now we see at least how to change the colors manually but what kind of code uses 7 or 8 digits? We do not know much about programming but if we knew the code we could change the menu border to what we want. We know about hex code (xx xx xx=RGB) but we have never seen this kind you have in the setup.ini.

Can you tell us which files in Windows 98SE that TLB uses to display colors? Possibly one of ours is missing or corrupt and we can restore it if we could find it. We have already used the "System File Checker" found in System Information>Tools. Now we await your wisdom. Big Grin Big Grin

Thank you.

Find
Code:
MenuBorderColor=...
string in the setup.ini and replace "..." with color.
BTW you can take setup.ini from second computer and replace it on other computer Wink

Hello Yuri

Please forgive our lack of brain power. Whoppeee, it worked. We found on the working TLB the menu border color as 26112 so we put that value in the setup.ini of the non-working TLB and now at least we have the proper color in the menu border!

Thank you.
