Is this possible: regarding hot keys and expansion of folder

Is it possible to have a hot key open a folder in Explorer mode as opposed to have it open up on the True Launch Bar but also keep the folder in expand view?

If I understand you correctly this feature is tear off menus. right-click menu and select "tear off menu". You will get menu that can stay on screen and you can open folders in the explorer.
