When I first installed the weather plugin the other day it was great, but since then, I can't get it to work. It just has a circle with a line through it, and the tooltip just says 0 degrees. There is a valid forecast at weather underground for my zip code, so I don't know what's wrong...

Please help us by first reading here so we can know your system details.

Weather underground will sometimes not be online but if you wait a few hours it will come back online. Also remember to sometimes REFRESH True Launch Bar.
Please read the True Launch Bar FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

I am having a similar problem of that ugly circle with a line but in fact it has never worked for me.

My system is Windows 2000 with the most recent versions for True Launch and Weather plugin.

Something strange is that I believe explorer.exe should try to access Internet but it does not. I know this because my firewall has never asked me to grant access.

any ideas about what could be happening?

I had a problem similar to that when I was using a software firewall. Weather monitor and mail monitor were both unable to access the net. I ended up just pluging my hardware firewall back in and removing the software, but maybe someone else can help you. Which firewall software do you use?

You might be able to add explorer.exe to the list of authorized programs manually, but that didn't work for me with Zone Alarm Pro.

I have Outpost Pro version.

I have already tried adding explorer.exe to allowed but did not work.

What it is strange is that explorer is not trying to access Internet. I shutdown my firewall and tried in order to see if it was the firewall and did not work. ???

Yeah, mine was behaving very similarly, and I couldn't figure it out, either. Good luck... ???

Strange Sad this is good URL and it worked on my system.
Do you use Mail Monitor?

One more note, check the online status in the Internet Explorer. File->Work Offline menu item must be unchecked.

Really strange :0

BTW other way to resolve problem is try to set connection type into Direct to net if you do not use proxy.

Hello Yuri, Nick, Shapeshifter and everybody,

Nick - we use OP Pro and weathermon works fine. Under applications make sure Explorer is in the Partially allowed applications (found in Options>Application). Modify the rules to be set as: Protocol - TCP and Direction - Outbound and Host is [www.xxx.com] where xxx is the url for the weather page, and Allow it. This should work. BTW - we have no other rules currently for Explorer. Also you probably covered it but we have our Weathermon setting to check every 5 minutes.

Shapeshifter - Take a look at Outpost Firewall. It is so flexible and configurable and works well.

Good luck and notice our prob posted in this thread.

Thank you for the recommendation, but I use a Linksys cable/dsl router with built-in (hardware) firewall now, and everything works just peachy.
