I've noticed this quite some time now and because of it I can't use skins that have a non-white background.

The following only happens when the view mode is "Icons with text" or "Icon only". Empty spaces in the background do not apply the background that is given to icons. The effect is illustrated better in the attached JPG.

At first I thought this was a problem with teh skin itself, but I have tried several skins and the same effect is produced always. So, I'm thinking it's a TLB bug.

Notice also that there some weird effect between the left caption and the first column of icons.

I am running 2.2.0.18 RC3 on Win2000 Pro.

Hmm, probably related to this problem (scroll to bottom).

It seems that shortcuts are painted by TLB (thus using the chosen TLB skin), and submenu's are painted by Windows (using the Windows skin)...

Yuri hi,

Your reply seems to me that you think this is a problem with the skin and not TLB ... are u sure about this? ??? The effect I explained happens with every skin I try. For example:
- Aqua Panther (MacOS-X)
- Bose DMX
- Orange

Best regards.

I think this only happens when you are using skins, AND the box "Use custom menu colours" are checked.

Yes I'm sure in your case. Skins comes from very old versions when there was text menu layout only. Version 2.2.0.18 have addition to skins that allow to add menu background. Look the attached file. It have 3 fixed skins with valid background.
Note: these skins is compatible with TLB v.2.2.0.18 only.

Aha, so that was the problem! Well, I'd already disabled skinning the menu's, because I like my default Windows skin so much... Wink

I noticed something else while testing things, which might have been mentioned before: if the menu view is set to "Text Menu" all text is black, but when it's set to "Icons with Text" the shortcuts have black text, and the submenu's (folders) have white text.

This does not depend on the skin, since the same happens with the <default> skin... and "Custom menu colors" is not checked...

Hi Yuri (and others),

The new skins certainly proved to be the solution to the weird effect I was seeing! Big Grin Thanks for quickly updating those skins! Maybe you should post a message for the various skin authors to possibly update their skins before TLB is officially released.

(to "swedone skindesign"): The "Use custom menu colors" checkbox was always not selected, so this wasn't what was causing the problem. :0

Thanks again.

I'll try or change them by myself
