I am unable to install the updates for foobar, mediamonkey, quint and winamp support. I get an "installing error" and upon reboot the machine asks me what to do with two tmp-files that it tries to run. Installing again gives the same error. I tried it on my other machine, same problem there. (one Windows XP, one Windows 2000)

I didn't get the "install error", but I did get that message about opening .tmp file after the next reboot...

It seems something is wrong with the MC supported players installer...

I didn't get any errors when updating the Media Control Plug-in and player support updates, although I had only updated for Winamp support.

Well. I've rebooted and tried several times, and now I notice that the old media control is gone from both the task bar and the plugin menu, and I can't install the new one still, I just get the error. I tried downloading the plugin manually from the page and that didn't give an error, but it doesn't show up either.

On top of this, it's kind of ironic. The Components manager says "all components were downloaded and installed successfully!" while below on each component it says "Installing error". Makes me wager a guess it actually only checks if they were downloaded correctly.

... I think I've located part of the problem. TLB doesn't mention that you MUST have these players installed to not have the download fuck up. I wiped the Media plugin, downloaded the sub-parts separately and those which player I didn't have failed to install, so when choosing just those I currently have it worked fine.

Glad to hear you found the problem. Big Grin

After my post I tried downloading the other player's support files and noticed that, yes you have to have those player already installed for the support files to install. I did not think this was the issue you were having because I assumed if you were downloading those support files, I figured you had those players installed.

Sorry, I should have posted my findings even though I didn't think they were relevant.

My problem was that I expected it to download support for them so I could have it handy if I install them, it doesn't say anything about needing the player, plus if I chose one that I hadn't installed, the ones I HAD also failed to install, plus the whole plugin stopped working.

This is the bug of installation. Currently if reinstalling of plugin do not work you must delete all dll's from installation path. Im working on fixing this bug.

Haha, indeed, I've merged your posts... You might want to use the "Edit" button next time. It allows you to change or add information to a previous post, especially useful if it's two times within 15 minutes after the original post... Wink

I'd consider that, if the forum was overpopulated, consider it CPR =)
