Hi All,

For some reason I am suddenly unable to either;
  • drag a shortcut from my desktop to TLB
  • create a new shortcut

I also suddenly can't create new menus in TLB.

My Quick Launch Toolbar is working fine.

Any suggestions>

Vista Home
TLB 5.6

Thanks - Jadag

Are there any error messages? Why you can't to create menus? Please can you describe step-by-step what you are doing and what you get?

Thank you for your response.

1. There are no error messages
2. When I right-click on TLB and select "NEW" and then select "Menu" I give the proposed folder a name in the "Create Menu" window, nothing happens when I click on "Finish"
3. If I right-click and drag and icon from my desktop to TLG and select "Creatte a Shortcut" nothing happens.

HOWEVER:

1. I remembered that I had changed my UAC (User Account Control) to ON the day before (needed to check something completely unrelated).
2. I changed it back to OFF this morning and now everything is back to normal.

I guess the permissions for the toolbar folder are incorrect. Windows turn on the virtualization and create the shortcuts in the virtual store, so you don't see the error. Some time ago the similar problem was reported here.

So set the write permissions for the toolbar folder and all items and you can turn on the UAC again.
