Has anyone been brave enough, or had the opportunity to see if Windows XP Service Pack 2 and TLB play well together?

Day 2 TLB is running beautifully! However, it would appear that my CPU doesn't support Data Execution Protection, so I can't test how TLB will react to that. I've noticed that explorer.exe is more stable too. I've updated video and sound drivers as well as installing patches from the new Windows Update, and apart from having to restart IE after a hang on the first time trying to fetch updates, everything is running smoothly. I did have a scare, though. Random restarts for no reason. But that turned out to be a faulty stick of RAM...

If you are having success with the RC1 version of XP SP2 I think then you are not using active desktop or such programs like Dave's Quick Search Deskbar XP SP2 causes programs that utilize active content on local machines to halt with error messages on each refresh. It is very annoying and has been discussed on several forums. During the time I tested True Launch Bar had no problems. I use active desktop so I removed RC1 XP SP2.
Please read the True Launch Bar FAQ (Frequently asked questions) http://www.truelaunchbar.info

Quote:If you are having success with the RC1 version of XP SP2 I think then you are not using active desktop or such programs like Dave's Quick Search DeskbarYou're correct, I use neither active desktop, or Daves Quick Search Bar. For the former, I always have MyIE2 open on one monitor. I'm currently experimenting with Yuri's Command Line plugin which is proving to be quite a useful little plugin... Things here at HorusUK Labs are going great on SP2 RC1, and I'll keep you all posted of anything signifcant and relative.

Well, as Micro$oft is looking like they've dropped the ball on SP2 a little (feature-creep, I'll bet) and keep pushing the release date out, I've decided to uninstall it for now. Also, I don't have time to play with it over the summer season as Mrs HorusUK and I are busy gigging. My experience with SP2 was relatively painless and the uninstall was (for once) easy.
Back once again...

I have XP SP2 (2149) and can't get TLB to install correctly. It gets to where it's almost done copying files, then get a message like this: Can't register DLL/OCX: Error code 998. This is on TLB.DLL. If I chose ignore, then the installation completes, but I'm not able to select TLB as my toolbar. Any ideas would be appreciated. Sorry about the terse error message, it's what I remember from home, and I'm at work now. Jesse
