I used the UNINSTALL tool to remove all TLB files, downloaded 4.2, and installed it.

Again, TLB hangs and Windows Explorer crashes.

I removed all TLB and TRUELAUNCHBAR keys from the registry, then deleted all plugins.

I installed 4.2.2, and saw the DEMO VERSION in the tool bar.

It hangs.

What about j.river?

Can you suggest any other steps?

Please can you answer the question:
1) When TLB hangs? After what action TLB hangs? As I see on your screenshots it happens on opening menu. Is this right?

Try to create the clear toolbar in the other folder. Create the folder "toolbar" somewhere on the disk and hold down CTRL+SHIFT during opening the TLB. TLB ask you for toolbar folder - select the created folder. Is bug appear on the new toolbar?

Yes. When clicking on an icon, nothing happens. Then, when the cursor is in the toolbar it is just an hourglass. It takes several minutes before the cursor becomes an arrow. Then I can click and choose the Quick Launch toolbar.

Try to create the clear toolbar in the other folder. Create the folder "toolbar" somewhere on the disk and hold down CTRL+SHIFT during opening the TLB. TLB ask you for toolbar folder - select the created folder. Is bug appear on the new toolbar?

I have completely removed TLB from this computer, including plugins and Registry keys. Do you want me to reinstall TLB 4.2.2 and do the experiment?

Also, can I eliminate all j.river keys?

Thanks

I will do that tonight and report the results.

Some jRiver Registry keys seem to be associated with TrueLaunchBar. I have attached an image. Note that 1.0 is jRiver Type Library, but Win32 points to True Launch Bar. Here is the data:

"C:\Program Files\TrueLaunchBar\plugins\mediactl\players\jRiverMC.dll"

I removed all appropriate keys, then downloaded a new TLB 4.2.2. This was a clean install. I put a TLB-TEST folder on the desktop.

I then right-clicked in the toolbar with ctl-shift, and picked the TLB-TEST folder.

With only ONE icon and a few apps, it works perfectly. Big Grin Before I build everything again, are there any tests you want me to do?

I do not want that TLB-TEST folder on my desktop, so where do you suggest I put the files?

TLB works fine *IF* another folder is used. In the standard folder, for some reason TLB hangs and there are Windows Explorer problems. Is this another Vista problem?

I will appreciate a recommendation -- it is difficult working without TLB, and it's a lot of work to set up.

Thanks

You can create this folder in any place.

Before I recommend something I must to understand when the crash appear:

Maybe some shortcut cause the problem. Maybe some settings... I've asked the toolbar backup....

AS MENTIONED - YES. WHEN I TRY TO OPEN THE MENU, TLB HANGS. THEN, WINDOWS EXPLORER CRASHES.

Maybe some shortcut cause the problem. Maybe some settings... I've asked the toolbar backup....

THE TLB FOLDER IN THE INTERNET EXLORER FOLDER WAS 10GB. NOW, TLB IS COMPLETELY UNINSTALLED AND I AM USING ONLY QUICK LAUNCH.

Instead of shortcuts, I had all My Documents, broken into groups, plus other reference files. I use an online backup that stores all changed files twice a day.

TLB have the nice feature - Virtual Folder for this. It is bad idea to use the toolbar folder to store big files.

When I first installed TLB I got started in that direction, and never fixed it. Perhaps that was the problem...
