Win7 Start Menu Search
Is there any functionality in TLB or plugins to replicate the search function in the default start menu?

Not exactly the same, but it is possible to search in the All Programs. Create the virtual folder with the All Programs location (select Programs from the predefined list). Now you can press CTRL+F and type to search.
