Dear Experts!

I don't know if this is a typical problem, but it drives me nuts, that's for sure. I installed (and reinstalled and uninstalled and reinstalled for a dozen times) the demo version of True Launch Toolbar but the result is always the same: an empty bar. Not reacting left or right click or displaying any text or icons. And of course I can't get the program's properties or configuration. Free Launch Bar however works flawlessly. My system is Win XP Pro SP2. Could anyone shed some light on the subject for me, please? Pleeeease?

Please can you give us your system configuration so we can help you further?

We'll need a mimimum of Windows version, Shell version and IE version. Normally this is available from TLB Settings... and looking at the System information section. But as you can't run TLB, can you find out another way?

Thanks a lot for the quick response! I did my best to gather the requested infos and they are:

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (5.1, Build 2600)
Shell Version: 6.00.2900.2578
Internet Explorer Version: 6.0.2900.2180
Memory 512 meg

I hope this can be a start. I can't wait to get True Launch Bar working, cause from what I've seen of it so far it's truly amazing!

It's a simple, standalone DesktopX widget. I don't think it's got anything to do with my problem, since I've tried to boot up Windows with only its vital appications running and it didn't make any difference. But, of course, I can be awfully wrong.

One important piece of information is missing. What version of TLB is it?

Right now 3.2.0.0 according to the tlb.dll file. (I've updated the program with the tlbupd.exe to 3.2.2 during one of my earlier installation attempts but it didn't help either.)

Is there any menu when you right-click this empty toolbar?

No, only at the toolbar's border, but it's the standard Windows menu. The TLB area is totally blind, no right click, no left click, nothing.

You're not using any desktop interface tweaking tool, are you? Things like DesktopX or Windowblinds are terrible... Ok, I noticed the 'DesktopX widgets', but they seem harmless to me...

And I'm also curious: what happens when you drag a shortcut onto that empty toolbar?

Seems like registry error. I have same once. Try to delete value TaskBarWinXP (or TaskBar) from:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop
Then kill explorer.exe using task manager. After restarting explorer.exe Windows recreate this key and can fix the problem.

Note: backup registry keys before deleting.

I don't know how to say this guys, but... still no luck. I did what Yuri asked me to, deleted the registry key, shut down explorer exe and then restarted. It didn't change a thing. I checked the registry to see that Windows didn't recreate the deleted key. After making a reboot, I had the key recreated, but it didn't affect the True Launch Toolbar.

To Dracula: I simply cannot drag anything onto the TLB area. It bounces back immediately.
I have to admit though, that I've tried quite a few desktop tweaking/replacing programs, like Talisman, Aston, DesktopX, WinMac, Finderbar, but now only StyleXPService is running in the background.

I don't know, this whole thing seems more and more hopeless, but I don't want to reinstall my Windows. Sorry to cause all this headache for you guys. :-(
